Year 12/13 Offsite Activities day March 22nd

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Wednesday March 22nd 2023

We are looking to take advantage of a wide range of external offers on Wednesday 22nd March that will see all year groups participating in offsite activities. All students are expected to attend as normal but we will be offering a variety of different events as detailed below:

Year 12

A visit to St Mary’s University for all students to look at University life and undertake activities linked to post 18 options. This is a great chance to start thinking about next steps. Students will be expected to be in normal dress code and will travel by public bus (free). Students will need to have a packed lunch and a coat in case of poor weather. We will leave school at 9am and return at approx 3pm.  

 

Those Year 12 students who are currently on an external work placement are expected to continue with this.

 

Year 13

Year 13 students will be working from home on this day unless they have been specifically asked to attend to support our onsite event. They should complete coursework and revision during this time in preparation for Summer exams and deadlines.  

 

PLUS

We also have an opportunity for a select group of Y12 and Y13 students to engage in a massive ‘Data Analytics’ event on this day. This is an unbelievable opportunity for students to work with key people in the data industry and is being supported by Cyrus One and Hire Higher. Students will be taken by bus to a Heathrow hotel for the morning to undertake a series of workshops and mock assessment tasks; learn from graduates and industry professionals while enjoying lunch; before visiting a live data centre to see the work in action. Business dress is expected. 

This day provides a great opportunity for our students to engage in offsite options and activities and we look forward to supporting them.
