Bank Holiday Weekend 🌧️

May is typically synonymous in schools for improving weather and the arrival of the exam season. Though the weather falls well short of our expectation, it may be seen as a positive for our Year 11 and 13 students as the FOMO (fear of missing out) on hot weather may leave more room for revision. 

Year 10 and 12 have been informed of end of year assessments and we will be working with them over the coming weeks to develop their independent revision skills. This will also form part of the focus of our Personal Development week at the end of this half term. 

With news in the past week reporting of stabbings at schools in Sheffield and South Wales it is an important reminder that, unfortunately, we must be constantly vigilant and adopt a ‘this could happen here’ attitude. Though I must stress that there is no evidence to support this, it really does reinforce the message we are driving through with Year 10 specifically about the importance of being kind. I worry that many of us have lost the art of disagreeing agreeably, or wrongly believing we can force others into adopting our point of view. In the pursuit of a tolerant society this is a key area we must address.

You can support us in this drive by talking to your child about their views and opinions and challenging them to view things from alternative perspectives.
