UCA Trip

On Wednesday 28th November we took 12 of our year 13 Game Design students to the University of the Creative Arts open day at their campus in Farnham. UCA is a dedicated arts university and the creativity could be felt as you walked through their brand new game design building brimming with new technology such as their motion capture and virtual stage rooms.

We attended two of the more popular talks from UCA staff, Games Art and Game Design & Development. These covered the courses’ structure, what students would be studying and how that could then lead onto a fantastic portfolio and future in the games industry.

The students got to enjoy all of the amenities of the campus (including free pizza and waffles) and had the opportunity to talk to current students, staff and members of the student union to ensure all of their questions about courses and student life were answered.

This is the first of multiple university and industry visits for our game design students, something that is often few and far between. I hope that these trips will spark a love for and a future in creative industries, creating the next generation of game designers and developers to contribute to one of the biggest entertainment industries in the world.
